Creating magic

Ever wanted to come up with a magic trick but didn't know where to start? The process that I go through is rather simple! I simply think what I would do if I could actually do magic. Once I come up with a good idea, I try to come up with summer way to accomplish this miracle. The more you learn about magic and different moves then the easier this process becomes! So learn as much as possible and have fun creating magic!

how to get your name out there

For any magician one thing that you want to do is get your name out there as a magician. Now there are several ways to do this but this blog is going to talk about the cheapest ways. 1. The easiest way is word of mouth. All you have to do is tell people that you know that you are a magician. Most people you know talk to people you dont know and i think you see how this one works. 2. Another really simple way is Facebook. Create a free page on Facebook for your business or just a page for you as a magician and then invite your friends to like your page. Use this page to keep everyone up to date on what is new with you and your magic. 3. Create a website. Now i know that your thinking how is that cheap? It is actually very simple! Just go to either webs.com or weebly.com and create a website for free!!! 4. Once you get a show booked bring a camera and (if you can) bring a video camera. Now what i like to do is find family or friends to take the pictures and videos. If you are a younger magician then this is where you take advantage of the people you live with. If they are your mom or dad or guardian or even your grandparent it will be very simple to convince them to come to your show and take pictures. Now if your wondering how does this get my name out? It is very easy. At the end of the show tell people that the pictures of either their kid or any form of a volunteer from the audience will be on your website or facebook page. Once they visit then the word of mouth comes in when people ask where did you get that picture? or who is the magician in that photo? I hope this helps you get more jobs and gigs. All of these methods have worked for me extremely well. Also try finding local newspapers where you can place a free ad in. Not all towns have them but in my town that has gotten me a few jobs. You can list yourself on craigslist but be careful and make sure that the gig you got from there is real! If you are a young magician then be very cautious and make sure that your parents are either with you or know where you are going to be and what time you are going to be there. Thank you and i hope you enjoyed this post!

Technology in magic

One thing that i notice when walking around is that more and more people are getting iphones and ipod touches. There are some great magic apps out there and i am going to tell you about some of my favorites. #1 ipredict+ this app is so amazing! the method behind it is so ingenious it even fools me sometimes. What is most amazing about this app is any card is named or chosen, the spectator actually uses their phones to either call or text a "psychic", finally the psychic replies with the name of their card. All of this happens on their phone! it is incredible. #2 ellusionist's invisible deck This app is literally an invisible deck on your phone! All of the magic happens in the spectators hand and with their movements! #3 Card Stab this app is a pretty interesting way of revealing a selected card. The spectator's card is "stabbed" by a knife on the phone. Not the best app but can still blow minds when performed right. #4 isensor this app is ok but i personally do not like it. The spectator chooses a symbol and then it appear on the phone. I hope this made you aware of some cool magic apps for you iphone or ipod touch (not sure if these apps are available on android)

Tip 9 the simplest yet most amazing

As a magician one thing that I have learned is that some of the simplest beginner tricks I own are also some of the most amazing. Now this is not always true but in some cases it is very evident which is better. The main way to fix this problem is to think about the effect created by the trick instead of the time and effort that you put into the trick. Think from a spectators point of view and give them a trick that they will NEVER forget.

Tip 8 Expect the unexpected

In magic shows you never know what is going to happen until you are performing the show. The audience may react in a different way than you had hoped or a trick might not go as planned but no matter what happens the show must go on but here are some tips on getting over those hurdles. First of all a lot of times when you mess up on a trick the audience does not even realize that you messed up so my advice is to end the trick right then it may be a terrible place to end the trick but i would rather an audience remember me as the magician that randomly ended a trick over a magician that messed up. One thing that you really can never control is the audience. They may find your jokes hilarious or stupid. They might think your tricks are great or ok. No matter what remember that they came to see you. Thats it. Just you performing magic. Your job is to give them what they came for. If they do not think your jokes are that funny than forget about them and focus more on the magic and give them something good to remember about your show that overides the bad memories of your show. You will never have a perfect show but you can always entertain the audience. That is your job so in the end if they leave happy then know that your show was a job well done.
